The first stop on your tour will be at the largest mosque in Oman, the Grand Mosque of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. From here we will take you to one of most beautiful houses in Oman - Bait Al Baranda Museum, which was constructed in 1913 by Nasib Khan, a famous business man from Muscat. Here you will discover the remarkable history and geology of your travel destination.

Next stop is Mutrah, will be at the Fish Souq and Oman's largest Traditional Souq. After this, you will visit old Muscat and see the Sultan's Al Alam Palace. You will also see, standing at the entrance to Muscat Bay, the twin Forts of Jalali and Mirani, which, are among Oman's most famous forts. Your return trip to Muscat will take you via the village of Sidab and Bander Al Bustan.

1D-2 Nizwa City  

Full Day

Nizwa is the main city in the interiors region, which linked with Muscat and the coast through the Sumail Gap.

Beginning in the morning we drive through the magnificent Hajar Mountains via Fanja and Sumail. From here you continue your tour to the township of Nizwa, the ancient capital of Oman. You will visit the Nizwa Fort built in 1660 and explore the traditional Nizwa Souq.  Next, you will walk through the old city of Nizwa discovering the history and seeing one of the oldest mosques in Oman.  You will then enjoy a delicious Omani meal served in the traditional style.  This will be a chance for you to talk and ask questions about what you have seen so far in Oman. After lunch you will then commence your return trip to Muscat bringing with you a very real Omani experience.

1D-3 Nizwa, Bahla, and Jebrin

You will visit the Nizwa Fort built in 1660 and explore the traditional Nizwa Souq.  You will then enjoy a delicious Omani meal served in the traditional style.  This will be a chance for you to talk and ask questions about what you have seen so far and learn more of Oman.

After lunch you travel to the village of Bahla with its rich tradition of pottery, weaving and magic.  Continuing on to Jebrin Castle, which was constructed in 1670.  Jebrin Castle was once a centre of learning for the study of Islamic Law, History, Arabic, Medicine and Astrology.  From here you will return to Muscat bringing with you a historical experience of Oman.

1D-4 Al Hoota Cave, Misfa & Nizwa

Full Day

Beginning in the morning we drive through the magnificent Hajar Mountains via Fanja and Sumail to the township of Nizwa, the ancient capital of Oman. You will visit the Nizwa Fort built in 1660 and explore the traditional Nizwa Souq.  Next, you will then enjoy a delicious Omani meal served in the traditional style. 

After lunch we travel through Al Hamra to the village of Misfah, which is an ancient village perched on the mountainside.  You will walk down winding paths into the heart of the village with fantastic views of the wadi below and the terraced gardens of lime, banana and date trees. From here you will travel to Al Hoota Cave. 

Al Hoota cave is located in Al Hamra district.  It is more than 5km long and traversed by an underground river. The main chamber of Al Hoota Cave is the size of a huge ballroom and contains some magnificent cave formations, stalactites, stalagmites, columns and curtains, which have evolved over millions of years. 

From here, you will return to Muscat with the experience of a magical mountainside Omani life.

1D-5 Oman Grand Canyon

Full Day

Your tour commences by travelling through the Hajar Mountains to the township of Nizwa, the ancient capital of Oman. At Nizwa you will visit Nizwa Fort and the Traditional Souq. 

From here we travel through the deep Wadi of Ghaul and arrive at Jebel Shams, "Mountain of the Sun" the undisputed lord of the mountains. Jebel Shams is the highest peak of the Jebel Al Akhdar mountain range, soaring 3,000 meters above sea level. Spectacular scenery, ancient rock carvings and remote villages, this is Oman's Grand Canyon.  The views from the top of the mountain are spectacular and offer unparalleled vistas of Wadi Nakhr.  To experience the "Grand Canyon" is to experience the very best of Oman.

1D-6 Jebel Akhdar - Oman Green Mountain 

Full Day

Jebel Akhdar is located approximately 170 km from Muscat.  Locally it is known as "Green Mountain" and it showcases another side of Oman.  Considered one of the most scenic areas in Oman, it is a part of the magnificent Hajar Mountain Range.  Jebel Akhdar has this name because of the abundance  of green terraced gardens surrounding the villages.

Your day leaving Muscat we drive through magnificent rugged scenery and past towns in the low-lying foothills.  The road we take follows the base of the jebels to the town of Birkat Al Mawz.

The winding drive up the mountains is spectacular and the views breath-taking.  You will see villages perched precariously on the sides of mountains and these offer fantastic opportunities to explore winding ancient pathways and view incredible terraced cultivation.  We will visit the villages of Sayq, Al Ain and Wadi Bani Habib.  We will travel passed an interwoven range of old passes.

Jebel Akhdar is renowned for its high quality miniature pink roses which, for hundreds of years, have been distilled traditionally to produce its famous rose water and oil.  During harvest - April - the wonderful fragrance can be smelt all over the plateau.

1D-7 Wadi Shab& Tiwi  

Full Day

Starting in the morning we travel through the mountainous and desert landscape arriving at the dramatic Bama Sinkhole. There will be time to visit the Sinkhole.  Next, you will continue travelling through the coastal road to Wadi Shab - wadi meaning "gorge between cliffs". Your guide will take you for a visually breathtaking, easy walk through the Wadi. A 40 minutes walk through the canyon and past green terraced gardens of palm date trees along the narrow winding old rock paths, will bring you to a series of streams and pools.  You will have the opportunity to swim through a pond of crystal clear water and swim through a narrow keyhole, surfacing inside a magnificent cave, which contains an inspiring waterfall. The cave is a magical place.

After you are refreshed you will visit the coastal village of Tiwi where you will enjoy lunch and conversation about your day's activities.  On your return trip you will travel through the mountains back to Muscat with a lasting memory of Oman.

1D-8 Wahiba Sands Desert

The Wahiba's are desert in the romantic sense of the word. Rolling sand dunes, varying from deep red to a rich honey color, stretching as far as the eye can see. This is the traditional home of the nomadic Bedouin. 

Starting in the morning we travel into the Al Hajar mountains through Wadi Al Auq across the desert plains through the townships of Ibra and Al Qabil Your destination is the Golden Sea Sands of Wahiba Desert (Rimal Ash Sharqiyyah). 

At Wahiba you will experience 4WDriving on the sand dunes as well as a visit to a Bedouin community. There will be the chance for you to ride a camel and the opportunity to meet with the Bedouin women and purchase their traditional handicrafts. After lunch we will start the journey back to Muscat.

1D-9 Wahiba Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid

1D-10 Nakhal and Wadi Awf 

Full Day

Nakhal is a typical Omani village. It lies at the foothills of the mountains near an abundant source of water, which irrigates extensive date palm plantations. 

Your tour begins by driving along the magnificent Batinah coastline to Barka then heading south to the Oasis of Nakhal.  Here you will visit the 17th Century Fort and visit Al Thowarah Hot Springs. 

Next we will drive to Wadi Bani Awf which is renowned as one of the most fantastic tourist locations in the nearby area surrounding Muscat.  Wadi Bani Awf leads to the famous Little Snake Gorge. It is an awesome hike and swim through the wadi.

1D-11 Oman Snake Canyon  

Full Day

Snake Canyon is by far the most diverse and challenging wadis. Every bend is a photo opportunity. Jumps into the crystal pools range from two to six meters into deep waters. The caverns add fun and extra challenges to the trek.

Snake Canyon is an awesome hike although definitely not considered to be easy but, having completed it you will feel inspired.

The name "Snake Canyon" refers to the serpentine effect created by the water cutting through the mountains and the wadi snaking through.

Snake Canyon is cut into the mountains and offers a fantastic trip past waterfalls, through rocks pools and over boulders. Our hike of approximately 5 hours will have you jumping into pools of water and swimming in caves under the mountains. At places, it is so narrow that you can barely swim between the sides of the mountain.

This canyon is for the adventurous spirit and requires a level of fitness.  You will need to be a good swimmer in addition to being capable of climbing and jumping from boulders.

The Snake Canyon offers a sense of discovery within the winding gorge which will keep you occupied for many hours.
